The US Government creates and maintains perhaps the largest datasets of any single government. But often times that data is not easily available, or is not publicly available for various reasons. Here the interesting escapades of how a group of citizen scientists harvested the single greatest treasure trove of raw scientific data in the United States, recovered from a harvest-day server crash, and got kicked off GoDaddy.
